One of the greatest tragedies of my life so far is the passing of my Nan, who died in 2011. To my realisation since her death; she was indeed the rock of the family, the foundations that kept us all together - her presence is deeply missed. You can feel it at every family occasion. She was not just a motherly figure to her children, but to all. Her nobility and wisdom reigned and she was a lady of such stature among the community, to which the entire street stood outside their houses when her coffin stopped at 153, her home, our home.

It is devastating to lose someone when you feel you have just connected. It was only as I was climbing the years whilst she was alive that we had a lot more in common than I imagined. Now I look back and I constantly think what would our relationship have been and become.

Desperate to rekindle the moments I had with my Nan, out of the blue I forged an awesome relationship with her sister, my great aunt Paul. Now an influential figure in my life where my visits to her are so memorable. Her devotion, intelligence and generosity are unmatched, echoing my Nan’s spirit in many ways. She warms up my winters bringing comfort, compassion and endless conversation. I have been visiting Paul now for the last ten years and I feel it is time to record our friendship and share it with you all. This project is quite simply a tribute and a thank you to this wonderful lady, while capturing the legacy of my late grandmother.
